IHCC Internships
Objective:
The Irving Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (IHCC) Special Events Intern (SEI) is an internship position responsible for assisting in meeting the increasing Marketing/advertising
needs of our chamber partners/business leaders looking to serve the Hispanic Market. Morning staff meetings with your direct report, the President (PRES) will be coordinated accordingly.
The SEI will report activities on a regular, timely and frequent basis. The SEI will provide reports to the PRES as reasonably required.
Knowledge/Skills:
Database management and computer skills including a working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher and Outlook are required as well as excellent neatness, organizational
skills and attention to detail are a must. Strong bilingual, oral and written, communication skills are a must. Interpersonal skills, including good tact and professionalism in
dealing with staff, Board, membership, partners and the business community are critical. Basic mathematical computation skills are required. Ability to work effectively in a fast
paced team and the ability to read and comprehend Chamber correspondence, marketing material and other documents Capable of multi-tasking, prioritizing and managing time efficiently.
Must maintain a positive attitude under pressure.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Special Events Intern is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Answer telephones in a pleasant manner and transfer to appropriate staff member.
- In the event that the IHCC Admin is not available, the SEI, will assist in welcoming guests and ensuring that guests sign the visitor sheet.
- Assist in the planning and preparation of all IHCC events (Irving Sin Limites, Annual Banquet, Holiday Reception, etc.)
- Maintain a strong and professional working relationship with Director of Business Development (DBD).
- Perform general clerical duties to include, but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mail delivery to appropriate in-house organizations
(IHCC, GILCCC and the City of Irving), mailing of correspondence and filing.
- Prepare proper resources to execute successful IHCC events (Ribbon Cuttings, A La Mesa™, Café con Nosotros, Annual Awards Banquet, etc.)
- Hold a strong working/communicational/professional relationship with the IHCC Staff and Board of Directors.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
The SEI will be required to work a minimum of 10 hours.
